Couture corsetry, treated as such.

Cleaning

Dry-clean only. Bring it to a specialist who handles silk, lace, and structured garments. Do not wash by hand. Do not use a steam iron. Do not place inside a tumble dryer.

Storage

Store flat in a breathable garment bag, or roll loosely with the boning curved outward. Never fold along the boning — this creases the steel into permanent set. A linen shelf is ideal; a plastic bag is not.

Wearing

Lace gradually. Do not tighten the lace fully in one movement — let the corset settle on the body for several minutes between each pull. After thirty minutes of wear the corset will have moulded to your shape; only then make the final lace adjustment.

Sit upright. The corset does not prevent sitting — it asks for a straighter posture. This is its purpose.

Stains

Treat any stain immediately. Do not rub — blot with a clean white cloth and consult your dry-cleaner the same day. Silk and lace do not recover from delayed treatment.

Avoid

  • Direct sunlight — silk fades irreversibly
  • Humidity above 60% — lace weakens
  • Perfume sprayed directly onto the corset — alcohol stains silk
  • Body lotion applied immediately before wearing — transfers into fabric

Lifetime

With care, a 9 ATELIER corset will keep its shape and structural integrity for ten years or more. The steel boning is hand-set and re-tensions naturally with wear; the silk and lace age well, gaining patina.
